Tanja Knaus is a mixed media artist currently studying Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths University of London in the Media and Communications Department.
Her work revolves around the fields of art, science and education. She investigates in the mediation of scientific and political knowledge. How is knowledge transcribed into a specific medium, what narratives are used and how do they influence us on a day to day basis. Forms of knowledge transfer, can be tools to foster a greater involvement of the general audience, and in its best motivate for action. For her, this poses an in-depth knowledge generation through arts, may it be a film, an installation or a performance.
She is working as well in the field of cultural education, offering artistic youth workshops concerning intercultural, political issues. Therefore she works more closely with youth center’s, museums or other organisations like ZK/U and FLAX.
In the beginning of 2016 she co-founded together with Melanie Garland and Nicolas Concha, the art collective „nomadicArt“, which is creating a platform of cultural activities at ZK/U, that empowers newly arrived citizens.
